The project

As part of the Yahoo! design marketing team, I had the exciting opportunity to collaborate on a celebratory campaign in honor of the London Olympic Games. To extend our reach, we strategically secured advertising space on billboards throughout prominent locations, including the London Underground, Stratford Westfield shopping center, and key areas around the northeast London region where the games were hosted that year.

Partnering closely with CNS, I played a pivotal role in transforming static infographics into dynamic and captivating animations. This transition assisted in ensuring that our campaign resonated with our audience and captured their attention as they navigated the Yahoo! EMEA UK site.

My expertise came into play as I seamlessly integrated these animations into various ad formats, including MPU, leaderboard, and homepage site takeovers. These placements strategically amplified the visual impact of our campaign, allowing us to convey the spirit of the London Olympic Games in a dynamic and engaging manner and also showcased Yahoo!'s prowess in delivering visually stunning and engaging digital experiences.

Concept 01

Our aim was to spotlight the vibrant food and beverage aspect of the 2012 Olympic Games, with a specific focus on the staggering quantities of burgers and fries to be served during the event. To achieve this, we devised a creative approach that artfully combined a universally beloved food item with a quintessential London symbol, the iconic red London bus.

This innovative fusion of elements was designed to not only celebrate the Olympic Games but also to encapsulate the spirit of London, where the event was taking place. The London bus, a symbol of the city's bustling life and energy, was seamlessly integrated with the concept of burgers and fries, drawing a connection between the vibrancy of London and the culinary offerings of the Games.

In summary, Concept 01 ingeniously merged the world of food and London's iconic imagery, creating a memorable and relatable representation of the food and beverage operations at the 2012 Olympic Games. By seamlessly blending these elements, we celebrated both the event and the city, capturing the essence of London's vibrancy and culinary diversity.

Concept 02

In Concept 02, our spotlight shifted towards the dietary habits of athletes during the 2012 Olympic Games, where items like eggs and milk were prominent. However, our intriguing twist was centered around a quintessential British tradition—tea consumption. We aimed to quantify the vast number of teabags that would be used to brew tea for participants and attendees throughout the event.

As part of the campaign, my responsibility was to translate static infographics into captivating animations. Leveraging my design and animation skills, I took these infographics to the next level by breathing life into them, creating engaging visual narratives that would resonate with our audience. We were able to emphasise the sheer volume of teabags required for the event. The movement and visual progression within the animations effectively conveyed the scale of the operation and the significance of tea consumption within the Olympic context.

This approach not only visually engaged the audience but also imparted a memorable and relatable dimension to the campaign. It allowed viewers to appreciate the magnitude of tea consumption in a dynamic and interactive way, enhancing their understanding of the behind-the-scenes logistics of the Games.
